Twilight is the light golden bronze one, and Starlight is the reflective white opal, but if you angle them toward a light source? My goodness, these beauties are so reflective and illuminating that they catch all the light, and you can hardly tell the difference between them in the pan!

These highlighters are not for the faint of heart, too, when it pertains to glow. If you favor a lot more subtle illumination, I would even go so far as to gently hint that these are maybe not for you.

The Tarte summer 2015 Poppy Picnic Collection: LipSurgence Lip Crèmes

Tarte’s LipSurgence Lip Crèmes aren’t exactly fresh out the oven. They came out a while back, but technically, they’re new-ish. They’re part of the Tarte summer 2015 Poppy Picnic Collection.

There are four shades, $24 each, and they’re exclusive to Ulta stores (which indicates no Sephora) and tartecosmetics.com.

Like Tarte’s other LipSurgence lip products, they masquerade as chubby pencils. just twist them up, and fill in your lips,

It may help to pretend you’re drawing on your face with a crayon…

Well…I don’t know if it helps, but it makes it a lot more fun for me. like being in art class.

Wait, where’s the mint?

First, these taste completely unlike the other LipSurgence lip products I’ve tried before. There’s no minty flavor or scent. In fact, when I rub my lips together, I can’t really taste anything with these, other than very, very faint wax (it’s very, very, very faint).

I actually think it’s nice. nothing against that old LipSurgence mint, because I think it’s refreshing and all, but change is good. At least, that’s what I tell myself whenever I find another top on sale at LOFT.

Reminds me of the MAC Cremesheen Lipsticks

Although they aren’t identical… These feel slightly thicker and creamier to me and, well, of course they’re creamy, right? What’s a Lip Crème without the creaminess? A catastrophe in a tube, that’s what.

Anyway, they’re comfortable and moderately moisturizing, too — like a silky MAC Crèmesheen Lipstick with a little extra heft (so they’re not completely featherweight), and they last from 4-5 hours.

How’s the coverage?

These are described as full coverage, but after recently playing with the Clinique Pop Lip Colours, I dunno about that.

I have this tiny freckle on my bottom lip that gets completely covered up when I wear the Clinique Pops, but I can still see it when I wear these Tarte Lip Crèmes.

I know, very scientific.

I’d characterize the lighter shades, tranquil and Empowered, as medium coverage, and the darker shades, wonder and Illusion, as full-light, or just shy of full.

What’s my favorite thing about these?

The creaminess — and how smooth they look on lips.

And, as odd as it sounds, the names. I really like the names.

The colors themselves, however, while stunning and creamy and great, aren’t exactly unique, but few products these days are. couple Tarte’s natural ingredients with these uplifting, inspiring names, and I’m happy.

I don’t know… I just think names hold a lot of power, and when I’m feeling blue or have a pal who needs a boost, you could do worse than reach for a product called Empowered. any time something can make you feel better or inspired — be it wearing a lipstick, or glancing up at a motivational poster on your wall, or reading your favorite quote on a Post-It note stuck to the corner of your computer screen, that’s a राम्रो कुरा।

I do like the deeper shades, wonder and Illusion, but my favorites are the nudes, tranquil and Empowered. When I wear ’em I feel brighter and a lot more awake.

You guys. So, it occurred to me the other day when I did the same look for the umpteen millionth time with lashes, liner and a nude lip that I might be in a makeup rut.

Like a severe makeup rut!

And I think I need help.

So, where do you go when you need help? You ask your girlfriends, of course.

Here’s the deal. I just… ideal before I had the baby, I was sooo worn out all the time. I wasn’t wearing a lot of makeup at all. Then, after I had the baby, it got even worse, because then I didn’t have any energy or time to put on makeup.

But Connor is four months old now, and I’m ready to get back into my groove and my regular life again, but I’ve gotten used to only putting in the tiniest amount of effort, and things like doing a full-on smokey eye are very daunting.

I haven’t worn a lot of makeup in five or six months, which is a long time for me. I just really haven’t been taking care of myself in that way for a while.

I’m guessing that this is something a lot of women go through? I don’t know… I’ve spoke to pals about it, about getting into certain routines with your look of like, I dunno, wearing your hair or doing your makeup the same way for weeks or months, and I’m absolutely in that monkey house.

I’m trying though. The other day I laid out a whole bunch of eye products and took pictures of them, because not only am I kind of out of practice when it pertains to putting on my makeup (I think I’ve lost a little bit of the muscle memory?), I also haven’t spent a lot of time in front of my camera.

So I was looking in any way of these stunning colors and finishes and the different formulas — the creams, powders and whatnot — on the table in front of me and started thinking, “What if I layer this shade with that one?” and “What if I blend these two things together?”

I thought it was a eureka moment!

I felt like I finally figured something out, but the next day when I sat down to do my makeup, I went ideal back to — you guessed it! — lashes, liner and a nude lip.

The thing is, I really do miss doing a lot more with my makeup. म चाहन्छु। I’m just stuck or something.

And maybe this is also a metaphor for my life in some ways. Not to sound too corny, but there are things I want to do and so lots of paths I want to explore, but at this point in my life, I’ve gotten accustomed to the patterns of my day and living those same patterns day in , घुमघाम। It’s gotten harder and harder to push myself in new directions.

I mean, yeah, things have absolutely changed a lot considering that the baby came along, but still, it’s different from when I was in my teens, twenties and early thirties, when, seriously, it felt like something was always happening to get me out of my comfort zone. now it’s been so long considering that I’ve pushed myself that way that I don’t know how it feels anymore.
